At the conclusion of fiscal year 2018, the company established a new “Best Rate Achieved in Woodbridge History” on its global Incident Rate, finishing the year with in Incident Rate of 1.31 versus the established goal of 1.65. 

Our HSE management system is the basis for injury and illness prevention. We have 30 corporate standards that drive prevention initiatives, safe and environmentally-responsible work practices and continual improvement in our plants.

Frequency Rate

Frequency Rate is the number of injuries or illnesses requiring medical care and involving lost days from work beyond the day of the accident x 200,000 / the total hours worked by all teammates. The 2018 global Frequency Rate was 0.26. This equaled the 2017 Frequency Rate. The number of lost-time injuries averaged two per month over 2018, equaling the two-per-month average of  2017.

Severity Rate

Severity Rate is the number of lost workdays due to an injury or illness x 200,000 / the total hours worked by all teammates. The Severity Rate improved in 2018 to 5.34 versus 5.91 in 2017. The number of lost workdays generated from lost-time injuries in 2018 averaged 20.5 days per claim, versus 22.8 days per claim in 2017.

Incident Rate

Incident Rate is the number of injuries or illnesses requiring external medical care, both with or without lost days, x 200,000 / total hours worked by all teammates. This measurement is an excellent indicator of overall performance and how well we are controlling hazards. The 2018 Incident Rate set a new company performance record of 1.31 versus 1.71 in 2017. There was an average of 10 recordable injuries worldwide per month in 2018 versus 14 per month in 2017.


The volume of waste that are being recycled and/or reused from the company operations improved slightly to 83.53% recycled/reused in 2018 versus 81.19% in 2017.

Waste Generated Per Unit Produced total decreased in 2018 to 0.0322 kg/m versus 0.0334 kg/m of waste generated in 2017.

Overall total VOC emissions decreased from 1.25 million kg in 2017 to 1.19 million kg in 2018.
